Season 2, Episode 1: First week!

" Smooth road never makes a good driver,
smooth sea never makes a good sailor,
clear sky never makes a good pilot,
problem free life never makes a strong person. " - New Year '09 SMS

Leaving home after 6 weeks of holiday and freedom is something that demands much effort and energy. Plus, the thought of starting the second semester itself pressures and pushes. I left my home on the 18th of January- spending the days of my break to the fullest before i start my studies on the 19th. Here i am, in UTP once again, starring Season 2.

First week, and i will 'take' next week off for the Chinese New Year celebration- oh, i simply can't wait. Actually, my uni is closed only for two days, that is the first and second day. Fortunately, the Chinese applied for additional three more days, giving me the whole week to celebrate. There wasn't much to do in the first week. Labs and tutorials commence not this week, leaving me with only lectures to attend to. The timetable for lectures, i would say, i'm quite satisfied. Though Mondays and Tuesdays i will have to attend lectures for four hours, the rest of the weekdays are less occupied with lectures. The registration for labs and tutorials have already opened and i have selected, thanks to my friends' (co-stars') help.

First week, and for the second semester Foundation in Engineering, i'll be undertaking five subjects- English 2, Physics 2, Chemistry 2, Engineering Maths 2 and Introduction to Computer and Information System (ICIS). Total credit hours is 20- 2 less than the first semester. Honestly, deep down in my heart, i honestly have nostalgic feelings for my sem 1 lecturers. I don't mean that my sem 2 lecturers are not good but i just recall the times of me with my sem 1 lecturers and how i had grown to like their styles of teaching. Anyhow, i will start to like, and learn to like my current lecturers. Only time can tell...

First week, and I get this tinge in me that sem 2 will be more mind-demanding and more challenging. I'm not wrong, the lecturers have also said that the subject is not getting any easier. This means that i will have to double and triple my effort again. As i have quoted, a strong person is not born if they don't encounter problems and difficulties. We need to embrace challenge and with utmost strength try to solve it. In addition to that, my expectations for this sem would be somewhat high too- i scored an incredible 4.0 in season 1 (and i'm over the moon and grateful). Because of that, i have exerted additional unwanted and unnecessary pressure onto myself. Having said so, all i'm asking for this sem is to go as well as sem 1 did and to hope for the best in return.

First week, and i seriously can't concentrate much in my lectures. As usual, the first lecture is all about introduction to the subject. Some lecturers would take more time and start off with some light and refreshing new information while some would just stop after the introduction. I need to reset my biological clock to the times here and readjust myself after the break- i tried to write but my handwriting often fails me now.

First week, with nothing much to do, i'm anticipating the Chinese New Year- may be that's the reason i can't pay a 100 percent attention in lectures. Don't blame me. The holiday mood and the festive feel are still running through my blood! wc09 is all about the first week of the second semester. He does not know what to look forward to this semester, but for now, it's simply the Chinese New Year!
