Easter, Sunway Lagoon and 21st B'day Partee...

" Raise your hopeful voice, you have a choice, you've made it now,
falling slowly sing your melody, i'll sing along " - Falling Slowly, Glen Hansard

Chemistry Test 2 and Engineering Maths Quiz 4 were very difficult, and i don't want to blog about it. It just makes me unhappy knowing that i have studied hard for it and the outcome may not be as i have wanted. So, instead, this post is about my life during the past two weekends away from my uni.

The First weekend. I left my uni on Good Friday, taking the 8.oopm bus and reached KL near midnight. Coincidentally, or perhaps planned, the PIKOM's PC Fair was in KL and i decided to give it a visit- i have in mind to buy an external hard disk to store my movies and photographs, and study materials of course, and a laptop skin to personalize my laptop. This is my second time to the PC Fair, and like the first, this fair is no exception- a more of a people-see-people than a people-see-things scenario. The crowd was massive. There were eager customers squeezing their way into the booth, enthusiastic salespersons floating amongst the flood of people, and visitors who gave way to the crowd and rested at the side. Met my aunt who was in charge, and slowly moved our way through the halls and the exit. The air was fresher outside then, and i left only buying a laptop skin for RM9.00. Another visit to the PC Fair? If and only if i am in desperate need of that device!

Easter on Sunday, and Great Eastern Mall popped in my mind. Usually, the mall have events to celebrate a celebration.

Bunny made up of balloons.

Dance performances.

Enjoy this video. If you know the background song, please inform me.

The Second weekend. I left my uni at 2.00pm on Friday and arrived in KL at 6.00pm. An exodus! More than 10 people in the bus were my friends from uni, and some took other buses back. It is because Monday is a holiday, and we grabbed this opportunity.

Since most of my uni friends were in KL for holiday, we met up in Sunway and soon headed for the Lagoon. It has been more than 10 years since i last entered the Lagoon. I don't remember how it was the last time, but the Lagoon was fun this time. There were many people on Saturday- i was pleasantly surprised, and most of them were tourists- boosting Malaysian Tourism, good thing. We paid RM 48 for the Water and Amusement Park. We strapped the wristband around our wrist and passed through the bag check before being allowed to enter. We rushed to the locker area and safely stored our bags. The lockers were rather pricely- RM 5 for a per-open. Without much time to waste, we hurried to the Surf Water. The weather was on our side.

Rides after rides- my favourites would be the Water Slides (i don't know their names) and the roller coaster, i had to leave before everyone else. Before bidding goodbyes to my friends and the Lagoon,

Group Shot!

Another childhood friend, Ee Vonn, just turned 21 and celebrated her birthday at her place on Saturday, evening. The food was delicious- i liked the potatoes and the pork chop BBQ.

Little cupcakes guarding the core, with the birthday girl.

Sweet-toothed, yummy! 21 standing magestically.

Childhood friends!

Time to sing. Happy Birthday, Ee Vonn!

Two great weekends. Two weekends off study. And now onwards, i really need to focus on my studies. I'm left with a few more weeks before the uni closes for the study week. But then, must relax also la. wc09 is going back to uni.

Season 2, Episode 9: UTPCO-Shanghai, PE Dinner

" Melodious Rendezvous " - Theme of the UTPCO-Shanghai night 2009

Victor Hugo once said that music express that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent. It is just so true! My uni invited XiYao Chen, one of the top 10 best er-hu performers in the world and Steven Goh, a renowned conductor, to tame the Chancellor Hall. They teamed up with several schools around the nation, and of course, with my friends who are in the Chinese Orchestra. I have to say, the night was wonderful!

The event lasted about 2 hours, with many songs being enjoyed by the audience. To be honest, some songs were so melodious that it, with time, made me sleepy. But i was energetic from start right to the end, giving endless support and thunderous claps after each amazing performance.

Prepare to be wowed. Let the show begin!

Miss Chen XiYao doing her solo with full of emotions and expressions. What can i say, she really is a pro!

Typewriter is interesting to watch!

This is good.

Piano and er-hu warming the hearts with Romance.

Look how she control the song, and move along with it. True artist!

Cheers to my friends too.

After the show, we headed to the cafe in our village for supper. Sadly, the noodles were finished, and we had to settle for drinks only. I didn't perform, but i was surely entertained. Well done, people!

As a Petroleum Engineering student, we had a dinner on Wednesday. The food was good, but not enough to leave me satisfied- i was starving as dinner was at 9 pm and we were limited with the food. Anyway, i was off my hunger. There were performances, award ceremony to the undergraduates, speeches, lucky draw and best dressed award. Nothing much after that, except for the plenty of photos.

We were early so we left for Pavilion to pass time.

Puven and i were trying to find ways to pass time.

So was Amrith. Yup, the dress-code is formal top, casual bottom.

More group shots. Then, dinner was over. Went back to room, and had to complete the Engineering Maths assignment. Due to that, i had a late night sleep. And the next day's class was at 8 am!

wc09 enjoys listening to music, be it Chinese instruments or any other instruments, and the nights had been wonderful.

Season 2, Episode 8: Award Racing Drama

" What is the purpose of telling a story if no one listens? It's like talking to the wall, with no responses in return. Everyone has a story to tell, i have stories to tell. I story stories, it's in my blood. But for what reason? Self-amusement? Or a profession? Or just a hobby? I have to admit, i am a good storyteller. Beware never to believe entirely the stories. A story is a story, and will always be a story. Don't say i didn't warn you, i am a good storyteller. So, listen... " - The Story Weaver (originally The Open Window), Drama 2009

Indeed, it has been a happening week as soon as the second half of this semester kicked off. However, the mood to study has somehow dimmed a little and the momentum to do work has reduced. Time can only tell when i can refocus back on my studies, of course, winding back to the usual after the break is always a challenge. Feeling restless, with stress, these days- even April Fool Day did not make any difference to an ordinary day. But it was the events this week that made me hyper-active, again, for that very moment.

Beginning Monday, my friends and i noticed fences being erected around the Chancellor Complex area. We wondered what it was, because the fences were tall and it looked as if we had been caged inside- like hamsters running in little their mazes, i would describe. But on Tuesday, our suspense broke.

Yup! It's the F1 cars.

The cars on display. Jaw-dropping, we excitedly took photographs of the car!

BMW- Sauber driver Nick Heidfeld was in my uni! Credits to my friend, J for snapping this shot of him.

We were so 'high' that moment that we just continued on snapping photos- even if we don't know who they are! It's a proud moment, though.

At the beginning point of the demonstration. Another jaw-dropping moment, listening to the sounds of the car ramming.

A longer video on the demonstration. Such an amazing feeling!

After the demonstration, it began to quiet down. I headed to the go-cart area, hopeful of being to ride in one, but the forms for the ride has finished. I had to settle with this, and that's about all. What an amazing racing Tuesday!

Double events on Wednesday. Having scored a GPA of 4.0 (Dean's list) in the previous semester (Season 1), we were awarded with a certificate in a glorious ceremony held in the Chancellor Hall. By 1.30pm, i was all dressed up, sharp and smart- we were required to wear formal, and ready to go. The Petroleum Engineering students, me included, were the last few names to be called upon the stage to receive the certificate. Without wasting much time waiting, we decided to have our photograph sessions before our names were called.

Aren't we looking sharp?

Almost everyone left their seats and met again in the lower ground, where we took this magnificent group shot!

Name is called. Walked to stage. Thanked the Rector and Head of Foundation Department. Left the stage.

After the ceremony, more photographs were shot. This reminds me of the 'Moonlight Resonance' poster picture. Nice huh?

'Nobody, nobody' pose. The song struck my friends like a massive wave, drowning all of us in the tune.

After the award ceremony, we readied ourselves to present our drama. As always, before showtime, my heart would race and my stomach becomes nervous. Though so, i have to say, being involved in drama for many times, i like the stage!

The cast of The Story Weaver. An interesting time practising with them.

Hope you enjoy this video- thanks to my friend for helping me video tape it. Sorry for the bad quality.

Nothing much happened on the other weekdays of the week besides classes and more assignments! But, Saturday was another interesting night and... wait, that will be my next episode. wc09, feels like racing, feels like drama-ing and feels like celebrating...

" I have warned you, i am a good storyteller. But never to believe the stories. Hear, but don't listen. It may, after all, be just a story. The end. "
